Garden Gnome

Nick and I had a great time on the boat on Friday night, whilst Poppy stayed with Barb and John. It was lovely to be away, but fantastic to get home to our little champ! The rest of the weekend we spent in the garden, where spring has definitely sprung! The pear tree is about

Date Night

Last night, Nick and I went out on a little ‘date’!  Now that we are more ‘housebound’ with Poppy in the evening, I tend to go out with my girlfriends, whilst Nick stays at home, or he goes out with his mates.  I was mentioning this to my dear friend Annabelle, and her and her

Man Stuff

After receiving some feedback from my husband, this post is dedicated to all of my male readers out there.

So please enjoy…and I promise there are no designer baby clothes in sight! Nothing like a Moody Luxury Yacht to get you into the mood!

My Blankie

Last Friday, I went to walk out the door with Poppy and realised it was quite cold outside.   So, I dashed back upstairs to grab my favourite red wool scarf….only to find it wasn’t in my wardrobe.  A slight panic arose and I thought: “No surely, it must be in my car/on the boat/at

Little Buddies

Poppy’s Little Buddies
From left to right: Gus, Flat Bear, Suzie, Rosie and Stanley

I would like you to meet Poppy’s Little Buddies that look over her during her slumbering hours. I have been role-playing with Poppy using her toys and I love that time of day when I tuck her into bed and each little buddy says ‘good-night’ in their own way.

First we have Gus, a little dog with a very Australian male accent. Flat Bear – despite her original name, has a pretty little voice, as does Suzie. Rosie is very shy, but sounds quite posh and well Stanley, he has a very deep voice with French undertones and makes Poppy laugh.

After they have protected her through the night, Poppy shows her appreciation by ‘posting’ them through her cot and onto the floor every morning.  They certainly are loyal little blighters!

Spaghetti Smile

Little Miss Spaghetti Smile! Poppy has been going through such an annoying phase with her eating at the moment and I am finding meal times not very enjoyable. The wholesome food I have prepared for her either ends up on the floor or being pushed away. I then succumb to giving her toast or a Cruskit with avocado, fretting about the lack of nutritional value for our little one. Help!

I gave her some Spaghetti Bolognese last night and she loved it – and I certainly didn’t care how much mess she made!

On another note, I came down with a nasty bout of Gastro on Friday night. Oh my – I felt like dying. I will spare you the details but I wasn’t in a good way. To make things even trickier, Nick had to work on Saturday. I stumbled through with Poppy until 9 ish, when I rang my friend Sam for some backup! Changing Poppy’s nappy was very challenging.

Sam came to the rescue and took Poppy and Maisy for a big two-hour walk, whilst I slept.

I am on the mend now, but my gosh you value your health when you feel so dreadful and helpless. The cuddles Poppy kept giving me, also made me feel better.

Poppy ended up watching an awful lot of television during the day, and all I can say is thank goodness for ABC4 Kids.  I was very pleased to see Nick home to take charge of the dinner/bath/book/bed routine, whilst I laid on the couch, feeling sorry for myself.

I just hope Poppy, Nick and Sam don’t get it, as I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. 😦

Cubby : House

cubby-house or cubby is a small, snug place, which may be considered and used as a place of safety for children.  This may be constructed by the children themselves and used as a place of play. In Australia, children may have a small shed, play-house or tent which they use as a cubby-house. A child might build their own in various places in the house or garden, or have a pre-fabricated cubby.

Wikipedia

Playing with Poppy yesterday in her cubby reminded me of all the elaborate cubby’s I have made over the years with my sisters and brother, which included any snug place where our imaginations ran wild.  Growing up on a farm there were numerous opportunities for cubby design and implementation and often included hay barns, under grain trailers and tree houses.  My sister Cath, even dug a massive hole in the back paddock and covered it with weld mesh and a tarp?!  Mmmm…risk management anyone?

Poppy’s cubby is in the pantry, next to the fridge and is very safe!  Bring on the many years of building cubby’s together! x

Hitchhikers

Poppy and I have just returned from an amazing walk on Mt. Wellington with Eve & Flynn. We met at The Springs early this morning and walked up the Pinnacle Track. Our little hitchhikers did very well (apart from Poppy pulling at my hair clip and earrings)!

We even experienced a snowfall which was absolutely beautiful! I love sneaking into the mountains for an early morning walk!

Style Bébé

Who would have thought that dressing your little one could be so much fun…and fashionable?  I LOVE these outfits from Caramel Baby & Child in the UK, and Bonton in France.  Sublime.

Woof!

Woof! Woof! Check out these little dudes – cool doggy coasters. I gave these to Nick recently, but I think Poppy likes them more.   Maisy is also quite fond of them – even though they don’t feature any Hungarian Vizslas!
