Family ♥

Launceston

I have had a wonderful weekend spent with both sides of my family.

On Friday, James, Poppy and I went to Launceston and stayed on my family farm with their cousins.  Four girls and James all squeezed into Nanna’s spare bed to watch a movie and enjoyed a ‘late night’.

After a frosty morning with ice on the fish pond we returned to Hobart where Nick’s family were all in town.  We shared a delightful meal together on Saturday night at Peacock & Jones, followed by a drink at Frank Restaurant & Bar.

On Sunday, we all went to Peppermint Bay for lunch on Nick’s parent’s boat.  I love family time and I feel blessed we all get on so well and have so much fun!  Xxx

Picnics : Museums : Playgrounds

After a busy week of working, it was so lovely hanging out at home with Poppy, James and Nick and enjoying the simple things together.

We baked scones and took them down to Long Beach for a picnic and had a play on the beach.  We had dinner at the yacht club on Friday night with family and friends (where kids eat free).  A rainy Saturday morning saw us retreat to the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG) and on a sunny Sunday we went to the park and spent the rest of the day in the garden.  Bliss.  xx

Blue : White Stipes ♥

My poor blog, it is definitely taking a back seat at the moment as life just seems to be really, really busy, with working a three-day week and a two and a four year old in tow!

So today, I wish to share with you my love of the classic blue and white striped top.  It is rather embarrassing but on any given day I am usually wearing some form of stripe, and sometimes we all step out of the house with matching tops (totally unconsciously however)!

I have always loved the classic Bassike organic jersey tops but after some hard wearing I do find they stretch/shrink or get tiny holes in the fabric.  I have literally loved this top to death though, but Bassike do get the stripe just right (not too thick, not too thin).

Bassike

I recently bought a cheap and cheerful number from Sportsgirl.  Nothing quite like a stripe and a French slogan to boot:  La Vie est Belle – Life is Beautiful

Also on my radar is the classic French Saint James Minquiers 10 from Olive & Clover:

Saint James

Saint James is the maker of the authentic nautical Breton shirt in combed cotton jersey that has been part of the official French naval uniform since 1871. According to an old lore from Brittany, the 21 stripes each correspond to a naval victory of Napoleon’s French fleet against the British.

Frosty Farm

Ice from the bird bath

I took Poppy and James up to the family farm to see their Grandparent’s last Thursday and Friday.  They love feeding the fish, seeing the sheep, playing with our old toys and running around the wide open spaces.  We also popped in to see the monkeys in Launceston’s City Park.

We woke on Friday morning to a white frost with much excitement about touching the ice that had formed on the pond and bird bath.  Lovely.  Xx

A Walk in the Mountains

Mt Wellington

We were up early and out the door for another bushwalk this morning!  This time a leisurely stroll to The Springs on Mount Wellington with my dear friend, Sam.

We had two little hitch-hikers (James & Scarlett), a dog (Maisy) and a blonde tour guide (Poppy) – who loves learning plant names!  She added the Tasmanian Snowberry, Pink Mountain Berry and Melaleuca to her repertoire this morning.  Bless.

18 Months Old

James - 18 Months Old

Our Jamesy Boy is 18 months old today and was very grumpy.  Poppy has even nicknamed him “Mr Sads”.  Those molars have a lot to answer for!  x

Here he is at one month old … and still grumpy! 😦

Movember

Little Letter Light Company

It’s that time of year again when our men folk are sporting fabulous facial hair all in the name of men’s health.

Nick decided to jump on board this year and his mo is going from strength to strength.  So if you are feeling generous, head on over to boost his total!

Two Wolves

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.

“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

An Italian Wedding

George-Clooney-Amal-Alamuddin-Venice-Italy-Giambattista-Valli-Couture-Tom-Lorenzo-Site-TLO-1

Need I say anymore?  Such beauty as George and his new bride Amal, appear in Venice adorned in an Armani suit and a lace long-sleeved Giambattista Valli dress dotted with bright flowers.  Only to be whisked away along the Grand Canal in a sexy timber craft.  Gorgeous.
