As per her request, I have made Poppy another skirt for Christmas! She can be camouflaged with our presents under the tree. All things ‘spotty’!
Frock Up
No recipe today, but I did make this little skirt for Poppy on Sunday!
I love sewing and realise that I have to make more time for it. Poppy is even requesting that I make her another one. Ok then … with pleasure!

Sense of Wonder
I met my friend Sophie and her boys Rupert and Willem at the Tasmanian Museum & Art Gallery yesterday – a perfect outing for a rainy day!
Rupert and Poppy were issued with their ‘toolkits’ and discovered the museum through new eyes:
Museum toolkits
If you just need the basics for your visit to TMAG then pick up your personal ‘toolkit’ from the Visitor Information desk. The free loan toolkits include several ‘tools’ to assist younger visitors in making their museum discoveries. Toolkits are suitable for children aged 4-7.
Colonial collections such as John Glover paintings were appreciated through binoculars; native animals were magnified through an eye piece and a sketching of Tasmania’s natural environment in the Bond Store Galleries! Sophie and I couldn’t stop laughing at our little museum buffs!

Peppa Pig + Santa
On Saturday, Sam and I braved the crowds and took Poppy & James to our second Christmas Pageant in Hobart.
The sun finally shone after a week of wind and rain, and Poppy waved her flag for the whole hour and a half! Peppa Pig and Santa were obviously the headline acts, but personally I loved the ‘float’ with the three breakdance dudes, their crazy shutter glasses and boom box!
As an aside I was telling Poppy the date of her birthday this morning and she was repeating ‘April’ back to me. I then said ‘the 19th‘ and she repeated “my teeth” and pointed to her mouth. Cracker!

Princess Fairy
All she needs is a wand … oh and maybe some pants?

‘Little Miss Angelic’ here has been giving us quite a bit of grief this week. The past couple of nights Poppy has been very upset and wakeful with dreams and tooth pain. Ah, I didn’t think I would be getting up to our two and a half-year old more often than our 3 month old!
Master James had a personal best the other night. I tucked him into bed at 7 pm the and he next woke at 2:30 am for a feed. He then woke at 7:00 am – oh I love it when there is only one feed during the night. I almost feel normal again.

Birthday Bliss
It was my birthday on Saturday and I had a wonderful day. It started with Poppy standing next to my bed singing her rendition of “Happy Birthday” followed by her saying “Happy Birthday Mummy“. Ah, melt your heart!
The night before I had a catch up with the girls at The Italian Pantry which was delicious and fun.
On Saturday morning we went to The Pigeon Hole for an early breakfast. It was then the Opening Day of the sailing season but due to the blustery winds and unfavourable conditions on the Derwent, the ‘Sail Past’ (the Governor) was cancelled. So we got together and sat in the marina for a few bubbles and some yummy food. My husband was very organised and grabbed some expressed breast milk out of the freezer, so I could enjoy a glass or two!
It was fun.

The Great Pram Crash
Unfortunately I don’t have any inspiring recipes for you today, but I do have a couple of photos of the tragedy that occurred here yesterday morning on the stairs.
All I heard was poor little Pops huffing and puffing up the stairs and then the inevitable cry of despair and frustration! Luckily the dolly’s were unharmed.

Fashion Plates
Poppy, James and I went to stay with my parents for the weekend, and Poppy pulled out my old ‘Fashion Plates’. Do you remember the classic ’80’s game for all those budding young designers out there?
Fashion Plates was first introduced by Tomy Corp. in 1978 as the kit that helps young designers, 6 and up, create fashions. Hundreds, thousands, even millions of fashionable combinations can be created.
Seeing Poppy play with it brought back so many memories of the hours I would spend deciding upon the complementary combinations and to seek tracing perfection with the provided crayon. Smudge marks were taboo in ‘Fashion Plate’ land! Poppy didn’t appear too concerned with perfection, but she did enjoy her ‘Fashion Plate’ experience none-the-less!

Scooter Girl
I can’t believe how quickly our little ‘Scooter Girl’ is growing up. Her regular phrases include:
“Mummy, it’s a bit boring”
“Mummy, I’m a little bit shy”
“Mummy, I’m not really sure”
“Mummy, go to Nanna and Pa’s farm?”
“Mummy, I’m tired. Go to bed now” (love this one)
“Cake?”
Where has the time gone since she was a baby and only babbling??

Ambiguity
I’ve noticed with many of the ‘Mummy Blogs’ I read, the names of their children are kept ambiguous with no photos posted. As much as I love their content, I find the sites are a tease as my curiosity is heightened by the unknown. I wonder if ‘Miss A’ is actually Amelie, Alice, Amber, Ava
