Bok Bok – Jo’s Hens Day

Bubbles

I have been really excited about Jo Jo’s Hens Day as it has been an occasion I have been looking forward to, since the depths of winter.

I have known Jo for many years now and I actually met her through her fiancé, Ben who has been a good friend of mine for a long time.  She is such a fabulous woman!  A woman who loves adventures, the outdoors and quirky fashion.  I am so happy for her and Ben and it was wonderful to help celebrate her Hen’s Day.

I love the lead up to a Hen’s Day … the numerous emails flinging between the bridesmaids and the group of women to share in such special occasions.  Sophie sent many comprehensive emails with details about the location, directions, food, what we needed to bring (a wig and crazy sunglasses) and so on.  I also enjoy coming together with a group of women that you don’t necessarily know to celebrate a mutual friend’s impending marriage.

I spent more time in Melbourne before heading up to Healesville.  I had my favourite Avocado Bruschetta at The Journal Cafe in Flinders Lane (I have tried making this at home, but just can’t get it right)!  I then picked up Neeta in Richmond and we drove to Healesville, chatting all the way (we actually did get a little lost, but finally made it).  The day was held at a beautiful family property, a house rich with history and fond memories.

I will let the photos speak for themselves, as the experience is very difficult to articulate. The food, the women, the location, the games, seeing old friends, acquainting with new ones and celebrating Jo’s special day. Xx

Hot in the City

Summer is here! The 38 degree heat in Melbourne yesterday didn’t impede my ‘quality’ experience in the city. Although at times I did feel like splashing into a pool like these graceful dames. Xx

Bear ♥

Today I am loving this little ‘masked bear’ pillow from Smallable.

We love this brown bear’s face shaped pillow, with a red mask that you can take off. This adorable sweet and fun pillow will certainly be a hit in any child’s room as a toy but also as an object of decoration.

I am super excited, because I am off to Melbourne this morning for the weekend. Little Pops is going to have some quality time with her daddy.

Ah the anticipation of some quality time to wander around the city, to eat at my favourite jaunts, to catch up with some special women and to go to a Hen’s Day in the country.  Whoooo Hoooooo!

Sneaky Peak : On The Water

I know I have posted photos of our boating trips before, but I was scratching my head on what to focus my ‘Sneaky Peek’ on today, and came across these series of photos which I love.

The photos were taken on the D’Entrecasteaux Channel in the summer of 2011 when I was expecting Poppy.  Nick and I had travelled in our little boat over from the Tasman Peninsula that day and met up with his folks for a spot of fishing, a G&T and dinner.  Bliss xx

Yum : Sticky Date Pudding

I was hoping to post a savoury recipe this week, but I haven’t made any interesting meals.  Meat and three veg tend to be a bit of a staple around here.  Boring I know! So today we have more ‘sweety treats’ – a delicious dessert that is very naughty. Sticky Date Pudding 170 g dates

FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out)

Hi, my name is Larni and I suffer from FOMO! Even though I am at the most settled part of my life and cherish my days with Poppy and Nick, sometimes that little FOMO tug pulls a little too hard. For example, I was driving home at the sensible hour of 4:30 pm on Friday

Little Mummy

Poppy still LOVES her dolly that her Nanna and Pa gave her for her first birthday.

Dolly is constantly wheeled around in her pram (chasing Maisy), having numerous outfit changes and most importantly … being fed.  Such a little mummy.  Bless.  xo

Black + White + Yellow ♥

Yellow is probably my least favourite colour, however when it is teamed with black and white it takes on a whole new persona.

I recently found a yellow/gold sheepskin in the cupboard that my friend Anja, handed down to us when Poppy was a baby.  I slung it over her Eames Rocker (a reproduction from Click On Furniture) and bammm … what a winner!  It looks lovely against the charcoal carpet and white walls, and it is oh so comfy.

After a bit of surfing on-line, it seems to be quite the colour combination.  There is even a Pinterest site solely devoted to Black-White-Yellow!

Sneaky Peek : Adventures in New Zealand

I love New Zealand (NZ) and have enjoyed many trips there over the past several years.  I have had quite a few good friends live there (Penny, Nic, Phil, Luke and Elise) and so it was wonderful to visit them and share many adventures.

I spent the whole summer of 2006 in New Zealand ‘tramping’ (walking) the Mt Philistine Traverse, The Routeburn Track, Milford Sound, Mt Owen and the Tongariro Alpine Crossing in the North Island.  I was very fit at the end of that trip!

I love going on skiing/boarding holidays with a group of friends or family. There is nothing better than staying in a fabulous lodge with a roaring fire, eating fantastic food and getting up early to catch the ‘freshies’.  It makes me so happy.

Looking back through these photos has made me feel rather nostalgic – I feel so blessed to have had all these experiences with my friends and my husband, and I look forward to sharing more days like this with our little family in the future.

Finally – I am very faithful to Tasmania but oh my, New Zealand, you sure are one good-looking country!

Yum : Lolly Banana Slice

This slice is incredibly rich, but oh so yummy.  Anna N. gave this recipe to me last year and I don’t make it very often, as it is far too tempting to have in the house: Lolly Banana Slice 1 packet Marie biscuits – crushed 1 packet lolly bananas 60 g butter 3/4 tin condensed
