I live in Tasmania with my husband Nick, our little ones Poppy and James and dog Maisy.
Our life is full of family, friends and spending time on our boat and enjoying life.

We had a gathering on Saturday to celebrate Poppy’s birthday with our boating friends but truth be told, it probably was more for Nick and I!
Poppy had a lovely time with her big ‘girl’ friends and the house was adorned in pink …. pink balloons, pink flowers, pink musk sticks, pink autumn leaves, pink napkins and a pink fairy cake.

Poppy’s grandparents also gave her a pink Hello Kitty Trunki:
It’s pink and it’s the first ever glittery Trunki! Hello Kitty brings a sparkle to any journey!
Trunki was created to beat the boredom so often suffered by travelling tots. Designed to be used as hand luggage, kids can pack Trunki with all their favourite belongings whilst parents keep them in tow.

This beautiful piece of art called ‘The Invisible Garden’ by Julie Payne, caught my eye as I was walking home past Handmark Gallery in Hobart the other day. Her exhibition is called A Sculptor’s Handbook and is showing until the 28th April 2015.
I love those mountain cliffs and the detailed sketching of flora samples, as they are very familiar in our beautiful Tasmanian landscapes.
A very talented artist indeed:
Many of the works in this exhibition are composed of several individual elements that have been either drawn or collected, and then arranged as fitting to each idea. The most rewarding part of making work is the pursuit of an idea and finding the magical relationship between objects.

After a little trial and error, Poppy is finally out of her nappies at night. Phew! It took a little longer than hoped with a few mishaps along the way, but we have been nappy and incident free for over a week now!
Yippee – now we are only buying Nappies for one little bottom! x

My dear friend Sam married Mr Chris Fox on Saturday in Orford.
‘The Festival of Foxes‘ was a whole weekend affair and a fantastic reunion for our old adventure guiding and outdoor education friends. We stayed in a beautiful shack right on West Shelly beach with Clare, Jimmy, Jen and Josh.
Sam and Chris were married on Stapleton Beach as the black clouds threatened and the views to Maria Island and the Mercury Passage were something to behold. Sam, being a competent outdoors-woman incorporated a bushwalk in her wedding and a procession of her girlfriends guided her safely to the beach, to her waiting beau.
Their beautiful beach ceremony was followed by a reception at the gorgeous Orford Bowls Club. We enjoyed an amazing night of conversation, laughs, a flash mob dance, a photo booth (with props) and even bare foot bowls.
Congratulations Sam and Chris on your beautiful day. Xxx

Our little Poppy turned four today!
It has felt like this day has been coming for a long time with Poppy continually asking the question over the past year:
How many more minutes until I’m four Mummy?
We have been in Orford for the weekend and had one very excited girl this morning opening her presents to find a pink fluro fishing rod with LED flashing lights, which Nick has named ‘The Pink Ling’.
On return to Hobart, we went out on the boat this afternoon to test out the new gear and low and behold she caught her first fish!
What more could a four-year old want? Well … as I tucked her into bed she asked:
Mummy, how many more minutes until I’m five?
Sigh ….

I have just been up to Hagley to visit my family on “Mill Farm“.
Taking James ‘over to the dam‘ this morning is a walk I have done a thousand times growing up on the farm. All those small details along the way that are so familiar, yet so beautiful in their own right – the twisted barbed wire fences, commanding silos, combine harvesters, the tractor I learnt to drive on when I was 10 (an International 434), rusty corrugated iron, post and rail fences, the historic mill, fat lambs and Angus beef cattle.
I love this land and I love sharing it with Poppy and James … our little city slickers! Xx

My dear friend Eryl passed away last September but I am thinking of him today … on his birthday.
I first met Eryl (or Papa Snow as he was affectionately known) when I started working as a Lifty (ski tow operator) at Ben Lomond when I was a wee young lass.
We shared many happy times in the snow surrounded by special friends including Goody, Luke, Elise, Steve and many more. The most memorable being a trip to Red Mountain in Canada in 2005. Eryl was 71 at the time, but that didn’t stop him from skiing all day, passing around his hip flask on the chair lift, hitch hiking and even dancing on the bar.
Eryl had a vigor for life and I miss him dearly. x
