Sneaky Peek : Daily Musings

I haven’t really hit my ‘Christmas’ groove this year as it hasn’t felt like the festive season for me as yet.  It probably has something to do with this crappy weather that Hobart has been experiencing – I am over the rain and wearing my uggies and woolly cardigans at home! We have put our

Sneaky Peek : Spots & Stripes

Spots & Stripes

I am currently drawn towards clothing that is either spotty or stripy and without realising – James, Poppy and I all had stripes on yesterday!

Poppy was even channelling the double strip ensemble when she came home from care on Monday, as her other pants got wet!  Mmm – now that might be pushing the envelope a little too far?

Sneaky Peek : Monkey Business

Monkey Park

We were in Launceston for the weekend to stay with Nick’s parents and to catch up with my family.    I love ‘going home’ and always feel happy to be back.

We took Poppy for a scoot around City Park which is one of my favourite parks and stopped by to see the monkeys and the ducks.  X

Sneaky Peek : Bonza BONDS

BONDSI have always been a loyal fan of the BONDS brand and swear by their children’s clothes for the functionality, design and wear and tear!  BONDS are now having a ‘Click Frenzy 40% Off’ sale until tomorrow afternoon.

These are some of the gorgeous outfits I have purchased for our growing daughter, who by the way has another bout of the dreaded Hand, Foot and Mouth Virus.  Poor little poppet.

Sneaky Peek : Spitting Image

Nick as a baby

Spitting Image

The exact double of (another person or thing).
“He’s the spitting image of his dad”

I have just found the above photo of Nick when he was a baby.  I have written before about Poppy’s likeness to her Dad here, but as you can see from the photos of James below, he is also the spitting image of his dad with that little glint in his eye, the same mouth and those cheeks:

Sneaky Peek : Be Careful What You Wish For

Poppy & FInn

I am a shocker for always looking toward the future and thinking “Oh, when James is 6 months old, I will be out of the newborn fog“;  “When Poppy turns three she will be...” or “When I go back to work it will be easier“!  What am I saying – these days are blessed.

When James looks up at me with those loving eyes and gives me a little smile and coos – why would I want to wish away these days?  Before long he will be running out the door with his friends and his Mum will be seriously uncool.

I guess I have always struggled with the “Catastrophe Syndrome“, so perfectly described by my friend Anne.  I find I hold my breath and wonder if the children are going to sleep well, if they are going to eat all their dinner, if they are teething or coming down with an ear infection?  I then catch myself out and think – what is the worse thing that can happen?  Nick is fantastic for me in this regard – taking on the pragmatic approach and providing a level playing field during my anxious moments.

Each day I look at my gorgeous family and am forever grateful for this journey I am on … bumps and all!

Ps – Speaking of teething, Poppy woke up crying at 5 am this morning and said:

Mummy, my mouth is sore, down my hole (pointing down her throat).  Sore throat perhaps?

Sneaky Peek : L’espirit de l’escalier

l’esprit de l’escalier (French)

That feeling you get when you leave a conversation and think of all the things you should have said.

There is no word in the English language for this.

Sneaky Peek : Princess Lei

Poppy’s grandparent’s have just returned from a tropical getaway with this glorious lei and headband!

Lei is a garland or wreath. More loosely defined, a lei is any series of objects strung together with the intent to be worn. The most popular concept of a lei is a wreath of flowers draped around the neck presented upon arriving or leaving as a symbol of affection.

Sneaky Peek : Reflection

IMG_3254

With our family now complete, I have been sorting through all the ‘pink’ baby clothes to pass on to treasured friends.  As I folded the many clothes ranging in various pink tones, I couldn’t help but feel a little nostalgic – remembering when Poppy wore each item.  Nothing stays the same and life is continually evolving, but I am very glad I have all the memories of her as a baby, and now watching James sprout each day we are very fortunate to be experiencing it again.

As James has now reached the grand milestone of three months, I am reflecting on just how quickly our time with him has gone.  I LOVE weenie babies, their smell, their soft skin, their tiny hands and their innocence. Each day I am seeing notable changes in James – we are even getting smiles and giggles and our weenie little baby is no longer.  He has graduated from ‘Newborn’ nappies to ‘Infant’ and is even chilling out on the couch!

Sneaky Peek : Routine, Routine, Routine

Thank god for the sunny weather this week, as I have been having bouts of ‘cabin fever’ with my baby routine! Even though James is nearly 10 weeks, I am still in the ‘fog’ of feeding, changing nappies, soothing, trying to get out of the house, cooking and sleeping.  Not to mention attending to Poppy’s
