Nelson Platform Bench ♥

hero_nelson_platform_bench_1

For many years I have been loving the Nelson Platform Bench:

Introduced in 1946, the Nelson platform bench remains a landmark of modern design. The clean, rectilinear lines reflect designer George Nelson’s architectural background and his insistence on what he called “honest” design—making an honest visual statement about an object’s purpose. The bench serves as a multipurpose display and resting place in offices, public areas, and homes.

I hope to bring this beauty home to rest one day.

A Luxury Baby Shower

IMG_0347There is no recipe today due to my busy weekend – which included a ‘Luxury Baby Shower’.

Our good friend Cherida was visiting from Adelaide this weekend and she is due to have her baby in late March.  Our friends – Jo, Jen, Clare, Manni and I celebrated Cherida’s impending ‘motherhood’ in luxury!  It was wonderful to see Cherida pregnant and she can still rock a great pair of heels!

We checked in to the Sullivans Cove IXL Executive Apartment and met up for an ‘official’ Baby Shower on Saturday morning.

The obligatory baby shower games ensued, with Jen showing Cherida a viewing of:

I popped home for the afternoon to see Poppy and Nick and then met the girl’s for a drink at the Henry Jones Hotel Long Bar.  We returned back to our abode where Clare cooked a beautiful Puttanesca Pasta.  I made a Banoffi Pie for dessert which was unfortunately a failed attempt as it didn’t set and was far too sweet :(.

Quality time with fabulous women in a luxury apartment in our own city. Bliss xx

Light Up The Derwent

Untitled-3

Untitled-4

We have had a very ‘social’ weekend, so much so that I am only going to concentrate on Friday night in this post (watch this space tomorrow for a recap of the remainder of the weekend).

Nick and I, my sister Cath and her daughter Bronte entered the ‘Light Up The Derwent’ event in celebration of Wrest Point Casino’s 40 years of operation.  Nick spent many hours illuminating “Tagus” with numerous christmas lights before the big event, where his electrical skills came in very handy.  There are great prizes to be won, and so our competitive spirit came out!

We rafted up with the Butler’s and their yacht “Iverus” to discuss our tactics and then at 9:00 pm we entered the ‘Parade of Lights’ behind the “Lady Nelson”.  We felt quite famous as we cruised passed the Casino and the crowds.  We even had a little boogie on board!

It was a beautiful evening and all the boats looked fabulous … now we just have to wait until they announce the winners!

A ‘Whale’ of a Time

Recherche Bay

We have had a wonderful family holiday away on the boat for five days. This was our ‘personal best’ in regards to the duration on-board with Poppy. She was a real little champ – sleeping for 12 hours each night and maintaining her day time sleeps on board.  She absolutely loves the beach, shells, dolphins, the dinghy and is a real little ‘salty sea dog!’

Salty Sea Dog

We meandered our way down ‘The Channel’ reaching our southern destination of Cockle Creek and Recherche Bay on Monday morning, in moody light and calm waters.  The weather wasn’t that great, but we enjoyed our time playing on the beautiful beaches and walking to the Bronzed Whale Sculpture.

It was Maisy’s 4th Birthday on Monday and she loved the special treats she received – runs on the beach, a sausage, lots of pats and even a Happy Birthday song!

Each morning Poppy would wake up next to us in her little cot and the first word she would say is:  “BOAT”!  Nothing like pointing out the obvious. Bless xx

IKEA ♥

Mandal Chest of Drawers
Today I am loving the Mandal Chest of Drawers from IKEA. This piece would look lovely in Poppy’s room with her other ‘Scandi’ furniture.

We have been away on the boat since Saturday afternoon and have had a fantastic time.

Here are a couple of sneaky photos … but there will be more to come when I return home to my laptop!

Yum : Lemon Tart

Mmmm … Lemon Tart.  This is another recipe that we used to make on The Bay of Fires Walk. Lemon Tart 1 quantity of short crust pastry 3-4 large lemons 6 eggs 250 g castor sugar pure icing sugar 200 ml cream Method Line a 24 cm loose-bottom deep flan tin with pastry, then blind bake

Little Cleaner

Forget all those toys that Poppy has – her new favourite is a $1 water bottle sprayer from Woolworths!  I should put her on the payroll!  x

Chatter Box

I have been a little slack in recording Poppy’s milestones in her ‘Baby Book’.  I have published notable moments on this page, but could have been more diligent in recording her first words and expressions.

Poppy’s vocabulary is expanding week-by-week and each day there is something new shared.

Her most frequently used words include (in order):

BOAT

DADDY

TOAST

SHOES

NOISY

NO MUMMY

MAISY

PEASE (Please)

TANK YOU (Thank You)

HOOT (as in Giggle & Hoot)

WEET-BIX

DOLLY

BYE

SHIP

CAR

SCHOOL

Poppy is also a little parrot at the moment – repeating words that we say.   As a result I have to be quite careful with what I say now!

Saltwater Sandal ♥

IMG_7456

Today I am loving Poppy’s new shoes – the Saltwater Sandal.  I picked them up for a bargain on Gumtree:

Cool kids love Salt Water Sandals.  A cult classic, where A-list cuties live in them all summer long (as did their famous mummies and daddies before them), these sandals not only boast Retro good looks but can withstand a lot of summer fun. Sun, sea and sand resistant, Salt Water Sandals are made from high-quality leather and vulcanised rubber.  Sturdy but stylish.  Tough yet comfy.  Sling them on for the beach or add a pretty frock and show them off at parties.  And the great news? They’ve finally reached our shores – and we’ve got them in grown-up sizes too!
