Sneaky Peek : No 2

I have a little baby growing in my belly!  So, Nick and I are expecting another little bubba on the 10th of August this year, which is very exciting.

I have been really well during the first 4 months of pregnancy, but just ridiculously tired.  I go about my daily tasks and think: “Man I am feeling sleepy, oh that’s right, I’m pregnant”.  When I am at home with Poppy I have an afternoon sleep when she has hers.  I do love my ‘Nanna naps’!

Poppy loves patting my tummy and saying “BABY“!  She is obsessed with all things ‘baby’ at the moment:  baby shells, baby giraffe, baby, baby, baby.  We shall see how long that lasts in August!

On another note, I went to see Julia Stone perform last night at St. David’s Cathedral as part of her Heavenly Sounds Tour with my good friend Depha. It was superb!

Nelson Platform Bench ♥

hero_nelson_platform_bench_1

For many years I have been loving the Nelson Platform Bench:

Introduced in 1946, the Nelson platform bench remains a landmark of modern design. The clean, rectilinear lines reflect designer George Nelson’s architectural background and his insistence on what he called “honest” design—making an honest visual statement about an object’s purpose. The bench serves as a multipurpose display and resting place in offices, public areas, and homes.

I hope to bring this beauty home to rest one day.

Saltwater Sandal ♥

IMG_7456

Today I am loving Poppy’s new shoes – the Saltwater Sandal.  I picked them up for a bargain on Gumtree:

Cool kids love Salt Water Sandals.  A cult classic, where A-list cuties live in them all summer long (as did their famous mummies and daddies before them), these sandals not only boast Retro good looks but can withstand a lot of summer fun. Sun, sea and sand resistant, Salt Water Sandals are made from high-quality leather and vulcanised rubber.  Sturdy but stylish.  Tough yet comfy.  Sling them on for the beach or add a pretty frock and show them off at parties.  And the great news? They’ve finally reached our shores – and we’ve got them in grown-up sizes too!

Sneaky Peak : LiFEHOUSES

I stayed with my gorgeous sister Rob, on Thursday night in Castlemaine. Rob and her husband Paul own Lifehouse Design and have just moved into their new home.

They have recently designed a ‘modular’ product called LiFEHOUSESHere is an excerpt from their website:

An affordable sustainable designer home

The LiFEHOUSE is our answer to building a home that addresses your needs, is beautiful, comfortable and highly efficient to run.

Designed for your environment

The LiFEHOUSE is a new concept that allows you to personalise the design in a number of ways to suit the orientation of your land, number of rooms required, external finishes, outdoor living spaces and interior joinery preferences.

Designed for efficiency

We designed the LiFEHOUSE to produce less waste during the construction process.

  • Standard materials dimensions are incorporated into the design
  • Efficient space planning ensures minimal use of materials
  • Materials and finishes that require minimal or no coating or finishing are used, saving on resources and maintenance

Flexibility

One, two, three, four bedrooms, add a study, minus a verandah, you choose which modules to include….

  • Pitched or skillion roof to suit different sites and preferences
  • Corrugated iron, shiplap timber boards, fibre cement or Ecoply sheet cladding
  • Concrete slab on ground or timber floor
  • Timber or aluminium framed windows and doors
  • Flexible joinery options

I always love staying with Rob and Paul as they have exquisite taste in furniture, art, music and food!  I feel like I am on a little retreat when I visit.

Black + White + Yellow ♥

Yellow is probably my least favourite colour, however when it is teamed with black and white it takes on a whole new persona.

I recently found a yellow/gold sheepskin in the cupboard that my friend Anja, handed down to us when Poppy was a baby.  I slung it over her Eames Rocker (a reproduction from Click On Furniture) and bammm … what a winner!  It looks lovely against the charcoal carpet and white walls, and it is oh so comfy.

After a bit of surfing on-line, it seems to be quite the colour combination.  There is even a Pinterest site solely devoted to Black-White-Yellow!

Madame Constance ♥

Today I am loving Madame Constance from Moulin Roty:

Les Parisiennes are a small family of pretty rag dolls, each one presented in a beautifully decorated gift box. Madame Constance, the larger and ‘more grown up’ of the dolls measures 50cm in height, has a beautifully embroidered face, and is wearing a pretty outfit edged in Liberty fabric. She comes in her own gorgeous gift box.

I first met Madame Constance when I was in her homeland in August and unfortunately I didn’t buy her then but have thought of her ever since.  She is currently on lay-by for Poppy for Christmas and I can’t wait for her to come and live with us!

Twigseeds ♥

Today I am loving Twigseeds:

Twigseeds is the nest and nom de plume of the wonderfully whimsical Australian Illustrator and artist, Kate Knapp.

First hatched in Brisbane in the mid 90s, Twigseeds is famous for its colourful and curious characters, the art prints, cards, stationery and books they inhabit, and the unique perspective
they share.

Parades of curious creatures spring from Kate’s desk in the Twigseeds studio. Some are shy and timid, needing a little encouragement and a biscuit or three. While other, more flamboyant types, are thrilled to their twinkling toes with the attention.

With wide eyes and smiling beaks, twitching whiskers and wagging tails, they take their sunny stories to the world.

I recently purchased the affirmation cards from Twigseeds that sit on top of my dressing table.  I like changing the cards daily to be greeted with beautiful words and whimsical characters:

I have also started following the artist’s blog – Ruby Red Shoes:

Ruby Red Shoes is a white hare who lives in a prettily painted caravan with her grandmother.

Ruby is gentle and kind, cheery and enchanting. She loves animals and people, trees and nature, flowers and sunshine.

Ruby is particularly partial to strawberry jam and peppermint tea. She is also rather fond of red shoes.

It looks as though Ruby has recently been to Paris too.  xx
