IKEA ♥

Mandal Chest of Drawers
Today I am loving the Mandal Chest of Drawers from IKEA. This piece would look lovely in Poppy’s room with her other ‘Scandi’ furniture.

We have been away on the boat since Saturday afternoon and have had a fantastic time.

Here are a couple of sneaky photos … but there will be more to come when I return home to my laptop!

Little Cleaner

Forget all those toys that Poppy has – her new favourite is a $1 water bottle sprayer from Woolworths!  I should put her on the payroll!  x

Chatter Box

I have been a little slack in recording Poppy’s milestones in her ‘Baby Book’.  I have published notable moments on this page, but could have been more diligent in recording her first words and expressions.

Poppy’s vocabulary is expanding week-by-week and each day there is something new shared.

Her most frequently used words include (in order):

BOAT

DADDY

TOAST

SHOES

NOISY

NO MUMMY

MAISY

PEASE (Please)

TANK YOU (Thank You)

HOOT (as in Giggle & Hoot)

WEET-BIX

DOLLY

BYE

SHIP

CAR

SCHOOL

Poppy is also a little parrot at the moment – repeating words that we say.   As a result I have to be quite careful with what I say now!

Saltwater Sandal ♥

IMG_7456

Today I am loving Poppy’s new shoes – the Saltwater Sandal.  I picked them up for a bargain on Gumtree:

Cool kids love Salt Water Sandals.  A cult classic, where A-list cuties live in them all summer long (as did their famous mummies and daddies before them), these sandals not only boast Retro good looks but can withstand a lot of summer fun. Sun, sea and sand resistant, Salt Water Sandals are made from high-quality leather and vulcanised rubber.  Sturdy but stylish.  Tough yet comfy.  Sling them on for the beach or add a pretty frock and show them off at parties.  And the great news? They’ve finally reached our shores – and we’ve got them in grown-up sizes too!

Sneaky Peek : Pizza

IMG_7476

Last night after work we jumped on the boat with my sister and her friend Susan.  We grabbed a couple of Da Angelo’s pizzas and anchored off Sandy Bay Beach.

We were home by 7 pm to tuck our little Poppy into bed!  Lovely.

Yum : Homemade Raspberry Ice Cream

My Mum gave us an Ice Cream Maker for Christmas and so I have been busily whipping up a storm with the fresh fruit from her garden: Fresh Raspberry Ice Cream 3 cups fresh ripe raspberries 4 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice 1 1/2 cups sugar – divided 2 3/4 cups heavy cream 1 1/2

Monday Blues

IMG_9850I am suffering from a severe case of the ‘Monday Blues’!  I am returning back to work today after six glorious weeks off!  It has been wonderful spending that amount of time with Poppy and I am going to miss her dearly today.

Our weekend has been another action-packed one.  We went away on the boat on Friday night, which was very relaxing.  Poppy becomes so excited when she has to put her life-jacket on to go in the dinghy with Nick.

On Saturday night, my dear school friend – Sarah and her friend Innes stayed with their daughter’s, Lucy and Beatrix from Melbourne.  It was wonderful to see Sarah again after almost a year.

The next morning we took them out on the boat for a very relaxed breakfast.  It was all happening on the river with sea planes taking off, two cruise ships in dock, the Aurora Australis ship cruising by and sailing competitions!

Peas in a Pod

IMG_9449I have grown up with peas – as Dad has grown them commercially for many, many years.  He even has a great story of how he was actually sowing peas when I was born!

When I recently stayed on our family farm in Hagley, Mum gave me a big bundle of freshly grown peas before I left.  Mum and Dad hand-pick their personal needs from their crop before they are harvested.

On Boxing Day we sat around Mum and Dad’s living room with my sisters and brother and ‘podded peas’.  It is funny – I don’t think I have podded peas for many years, but that action of using your thumb nail to open the beautiful casing, then sliding the produce into your bucket that sits in your lap, and tossing the empty pod on the sheet spread out on the floor – came back to me very easily.  Such a simple task, but one that took me back to my childhood … and all those days of shifting irrigators, picking, podding and eating peas.
