Dust Mite

I am sure this doesn’t meet the specifications for responsible parenting, nor the strict guidelines of safety standards for a child’s ‘toy’ … but Poppy LOVES her Dad’s dust mask.  Hours of entertainment on those long car trips!

Lots of Love ♥

Today I am thankful for many things:

  • My Dad is recovering well from his heart operation on Tuesday
  • Nick was unfortunately made redundant two weeks ago and is starting a new job on Monday
  • We are buying a new (second-hand) car today
  • I am feeling many reassuring kicks from our ‘Little Possum’ and have made it half way through my pregnancy!
  • Poppy is a constant delight, especially when she points to Emily Blunt on the red-carpet in an InSytle magazine and says:  “Mummy”!

Country Road

Here is my new winter scarf that I bought from Country Road in Melbourne.  I love those spots!

My Dad’s operation has gone well.  My Mum and I went to see him in ICU last night which was a little confronting, but he is in very good care.  xx

Vintage Bally

Bally LegsUnfortunately I have no recipe today, but I do have a set of spunky legs in this gorgeous vintage Bally poster.

On another note, my dad is having a major operation in Hobart today.  We all look forward to hearing of his progress this afternoon.

Poppy and I donned our aprons on Saturday morning and made a Date & Banana Loaf.  She was incredibly helpful (albeit a little messy) but we manage to get the mixture into the loaf tin and turned out this beauty!  She was proud as punch.  x

On another note I had a wonderful time in Melbourne on Friday.  I visited Alison, my sister-in-law and her gorgeous children – Ruby and Max in the morning.
I then wandered along Bridge Road in Richmond and caught a tram into the city.  I drooled over beautiful fashion at Acne, David Jones, Myer, Zara and Country Road before meeting Bron for lunch at Journal Canteen.  Several hours slipped by as we chatted and ‘walked off’ our lunch along the Yarra River.  I value such times with dear friends.
I flew back home later that evening and it was so nice to sneak into a quiet house with a sleeping toddler, husband and dog.  Home again with my favourite people!

Cath and I are having a wonderful time in the ‘big city’. Unfortunately our friend Neil didn’t give us his best on Wednesday night, but it was fantastic to eat at our favourite, the Chocolate Buddha; walk along the South Bank, go to IKEA and enjoy the city. Not to mention the obligatory shoe shopping!

Sneaky Peek :

Neil_Young_(album)

My sister Cath and I fly to Melbourne this afternoon to see non-other than Neil Young with Crazy Horse at The Plenary.  I am so excited.

I saw ‘The Grandfather of Grunge‘ way back in 1993 when I was living in Vancouver with my good friend Jana.  Back when big hair and oversized jumpers were in fashion!

I have always loved his music, but I must admit I haven’t ‘rocked’ on to Neil for a while now.  I am looking forward to hearing his iconic voice and all those classics again after all these years.

I am flying home on Friday night, which will allow for a spot of ‘retail therapy’ and catching up with my in-laws and dear friend Bron.  Can’t wait.

Yum : Tomato Relish

As promised last week here is my Tomato Relish recipe.  I have used the recipe from Sally Wise’s book A Year In A Bottle.  Due to the amount of tomatoes I had, I doubled the recipe but I think I stuffed up the quantities, as my relish turned out quite runny.  😦 I was also cooking under

Pop of Colour

Poppy hasn’t been in her best form this week.  She usually sleeps without a peep the whole night, but for the last week we have been getting up to her wails on a regular basis!  Man-oh-man – I think those pesky molars are popping up to say ‘hello’!  Yawn … Thankfully she was much perkier
