Ornate Luxury

Paris

After looking through my photos this morning I found these images from my trip to Paris in 2012, taken from the famous department store – Galeries Lafayette.

Ah, a little bit of Parisian ornate luxury on this dreary Hobart morning.  Xx

Sneaky Peek : A Long Weekend

Fortescue Bay

Tasmanian Devil Conservation Park

For the recent Long Weekend we went on a little holiday to the Tasman Peninsula for our annual Davies’ get together.  In 2012 we all went to Philip Island in Victoria, but this year we spent three nights at the Stewarts Bay Lodge.

Poppy was very excited to be going on a ‘holiday’ with her cousins from Melbourne – Ruby, Max and Maggie.  We visited Fortescue BayThe Tasmanian Devil Conservation ParkRemarkable Cave and Safety Cove Beach.

I will let the photos speak for themselves – however we enjoyed quality family time in beautiful surroundings.

The Perfect Break

IMG_7960

My three days in Melbourne with Melissa were sublime!

It was a real luxury to step out of our busy lives to immerse ourselves in a city we love, where we could roam the alleyways, experience sumptuous food, look at beautiful fashion and most importantly … laugh!

I arrived home on Saturday evening to a sleeping toddler, but it was so nice to see Nick and then Poppy the next morning.  She even asked:  “Nice holiday Mummy”?  Daddy may have prompted that question.

On Sunday we went  to T42 for breakfast and then a ‘scoot’ around the docks.  I love being away, but it is so nice coming ‘home’.

Bok Bok – Jo’s Hens Day

Bubbles

I have been really excited about Jo Jo’s Hens Day as it has been an occasion I have been looking forward to, since the depths of winter.

I have known Jo for many years now and I actually met her through her fiancé, Ben who has been a good friend of mine for a long time.  She is such a fabulous woman!  A woman who loves adventures, the outdoors and quirky fashion.  I am so happy for her and Ben and it was wonderful to help celebrate her Hen’s Day.

I love the lead up to a Hen’s Day … the numerous emails flinging between the bridesmaids and the group of women to share in such special occasions.  Sophie sent many comprehensive emails with details about the location, directions, food, what we needed to bring (a wig and crazy sunglasses) and so on.  I also enjoy coming together with a group of women that you don’t necessarily know to celebrate a mutual friend’s impending marriage.

I spent more time in Melbourne before heading up to Healesville.  I had my favourite Avocado Bruschetta at The Journal Cafe in Flinders Lane (I have tried making this at home, but just can’t get it right)!  I then picked up Neeta in Richmond and we drove to Healesville, chatting all the way (we actually did get a little lost, but finally made it).  The day was held at a beautiful family property, a house rich with history and fond memories.

I will let the photos speak for themselves, as the experience is very difficult to articulate. The food, the women, the location, the games, seeing old friends, acquainting with new ones and celebrating Jo’s special day. Xx

Hot in the City

Summer is here! The 38 degree heat in Melbourne yesterday didn’t impede my ‘quality’ experience in the city. Although at times I did feel like splashing into a pool like these graceful dames. Xx

A Freycinet Frolic

We spent the weekend with our friends Marcus, Emma and their son Hugo at Coles Bay and enjoyed the Freycinet Peninsula.  We arrived on Friday night after an interesting trip up the East Coast.  Poppy didn’t really sleep as we had planned and once we arrived she took a long time to settle in her Porta-a-Cot.  Man those cots are a nightmare to put up – it kept collapsing on us.

On Saturday we loaded up the boat and were whisked down to Schouten Island, where we had a lovely picnic on the white, white sand.  Poppy got so excited about the water she walked right in to the waves with her shoes on!  We love this part of our coastline and I cherish the ability to show Poppy these amazing places.

Marcus and Nick went diving in the afternoon and Emma and I had wonderful plans of reading trashy mags, but our plans were foiled.  Running after two dogs, and an 18 month old in a ‘non-baby proof’ shack was exhausting.  Poppy was obsessed with opening all the drawers and cupboards and playing with the vanilla essence and wine glasses. Needless to say we didn’t get much reading done!

On Sunday, Marcus and Emma dropped us off in the boat to Hazards Beach where Nick and I walked across the isthmus to Wineglass Bay. Poppy was so excited about seeing this famous beach, she fell asleep!

The boys had another dive in the afternoon and brought back four crayfish and lots of abalone!  Yum.

What a wonderful weekend!  xx

Très Chic!

My good friend Tim and I have been loyal followers of the über chic Garance Doré for quite a few years now. Garance is a French photographer and blogger and has just illustrated a new collection for Kate Spade New York. When I was in London, I walked past the Kate Spade store in Covent Garden

This little chap jumped into my suitcase before I left!  We will look after him as he is far away from his homeland.  Poppy is a little unsure of her new mate, but I am sure she will warm to him.

Summer : Winter

From this: To this: I finally made it home on Saturday morning after many, many hours of flying. I arrived into Melbourne on a very dreary morning and after a quick flight to Hobart I was very happy to be  reunited with Poppy and Nick.  Little Popster launched into my arms, and was quite shy
