Rektango

I was very proud of myself on Friday night!  Cath (my sister) had popped around to have an after work ‘catch up’ including a beer (for her) and some chippies.  She was going out after our place to Rektango and as I was clearing up after Poppy’s dinner, I said:  “Wow, I would love to

Celebrations Galore

Apologies for the delayed post – it has been a busy weekend of celebrations!  On Friday afternoon/evening we had a ‘Peppa Pig’ themed party for Poppy.  I went all out and I bought cups, napkins, loot bags and decorated the house in all things pink! It was wonderful to see Poppy totally enjoy herself, blow

2 Years Old Today!

IMG_2250

Here is our little cherub when she was a wee baby and today, Poppy turns TWO!  Oh how she has grown.

It is difficult to articulate the joy Poppy has brought Nick and I over the past two years.  Seeing her in these photos as a tiny little baby almost feels like she was a different person.  This time two years ago I was in a whole world of pain, but it was definitely all worth it when at 10.08 pm she was brought into our world!

I think I have been more excited about Poppy’s Birthday than anyone.  We are having a party this afternoon for some of her little friends, and I have been baking and decorating her cake, wrapping her presents and reminiscing about the past two years!

This morning Nick and I went into Poppy’s room singing “Happy Birthday” and she repeatedly pronounced:  “Poppy’s Birthday“!  She was very happy about her new Mini Micro Scooter and Nutcase Helmet.

Porridge with Peppa

IMG_1099

We are ‘all-things-Peppa‘ in the house at the moment and Bron bought Poppy a Peppa Pig and Rebecca Rabbit figurine.  Poppy loves them and insisted on sharing her porridge with them!

Cultured Kids

IMG_0989

On Wednesday Nick and I spent the day with Nick’s brother Will, his gorgeous wife Tup and their daughter – Maggie, who were visiting from Melbourne.  We thought we would provide the girls (Poppy & Maggie) with a good dose of culture and visited the newly refurbished Tasmanian Museum & Art Gallery.

Our visit wasn’t as long as I would have hoped due to sleep time demands, but we were able to have a sneaky peek into the ‘new’ museum, and definitely liked what we saw.  I can’t wait to go back with more time, and perhaps without our ‘cultured kid’!!  (Sorry Pops)  xx

MONA : MONA

IMG_7638

It was a double whammy MONA weekend for me this weekend, frequenting Saturday and Sunday!

Saturday was my beautiful friend Aimee’s Hen’s Lunch.  It was a very stylish affair – with some ‘bridey chintz’ thrown in for good measure.  We all met for a wine tasting (mmm … my water tasted nice) followed by a long lunch at the MONA Wine Bar.  It was so lovely to spend the afternoon enjoying beautiful food, good conversation and reminiscing about past follies with old friends.

Sunday morning was quite miserable, and after an early walk on the beach with Nick, Poppy and Maisy we ventured out to MONA to visit the museum.

Poppy did very well in the pram, whilst Nick and I tried to appreciate the ‘Theatre of the World’ exhibition.  At one stage, I did have to pull out the saviour – Peppa Pig on my iPhone to keep the peace!

We then had a quick lunch at the Wine Bar again.  As nice as it was, it wasn’t quite as relaxing as the day before!  Poppy practically gulped down her baby chino – leaving the tell-tale signs of chocolate residue behind!

Dust Mite

IMG_0815

I am sure this doesn’t meet the specifications for responsible parenting, nor the strict guidelines of safety standards for a child’s ‘toy’ … but Poppy LOVES her Dad’s dust mask.  Hours of entertainment on those long car trips!

Not quite two, but Poppy has the determination of a 12-year-old!  She now wants to drive my car and push her pram!  He he! xx

Pop of Colour

Poppy hasn’t been in her best form this week.  She usually sleeps without a peep the whole night, but for the last week we have been getting up to her wails on a regular basis!  Man-oh-man – I think those pesky molars are popping up to say ‘hello’!  Yawn … Thankfully she was much perkier

Need I say anymore … nothing like a little bit of competition between dad and daughter!
