Scarf ♥

As I am feeding James for many hours over a 24 hour period, I am spending quite a bit of time on:

I get lost in all the beautiful images that pop into my phone in the wee hours which help to keep me awake for the very important job of feeding our son!

One image that I especially love is this beautiful woman (probably French) with a stunning scarf – so effortlessly chic’!

I love scarves and wear them regularly.  I really do believe they make a simple outfit into a very stylish affair.

On one of my night-time feeds, I came across this fantastic video from Wendy’s Lookbook:

Sublime! Xx

Ah – Paris!

I often get ribbed about how sentimental I am by my sisters and husband!  It’s true – I am very sentimental about experiences, friends, specific dates and anniversaries.  Each month I randomly say to Nick, “This time last year we were … blah blah”.

Sitting here with James this morning contemplating the date, I realised this exact time last year I was in Paris for four wonderful days.  Ah, the delights of wandering around the Parisian streets, admiring the stylish women, architecture and art.  Ah, I love being sentimental.  Xx

We have good news about our little man James.  If all goes well this weekend, it looks as though he will be coming home with us on Monday or Tuesday.  Keep putting on that weight little fella!  Xxx

Moose ♥

Moose CushionToday I am loving all things MOOSE after looking through my Alaskan photos from yesterday’s post.

I love their big goofy eyes, their long eyelashes and nose with their massive antlers – conjuring up exotic places from the Northern Hemisphere.

Poppy was also reunited with her Mortimer the Moose last night after he took a little holiday to Melbourne with her cousin Max, and his moose. Mortimer’s home is usually in my car, but last night he was fortunate to sleep in Poppy’s cot!

Mortimer

The Mortimer the Lamaze Play & Grow Moose is part cuddle toy, and part teething toy. His plush body is perfect for snuggling, while his plastic antlers double as safe, non-toxic teething rings. Machine washable, and comes complete with the Lamaze Link to make it perfect to take with you everywhere you go.

The humble moose has also influenced many gorgeous features for the home:

Madeline Goodwolf - Exquisite SecretsToday I am loving Tasmanian art and printmaking from Handmark Gallery. A gallery in Salamanca Place that you just feel great being in.

Nick and I have bought quite a few pieces from the gallery over the years, but now unfortunately our art budget and wall space is quite limited.  My favourite artists include Madeline Goodwolf, Justin McShane, Jonathan Partridge and Alexandra Pitt.  Xx

Baby ♥

Today I am loving this photo of Poppy as a wee baby.

I have also sorted through all Poppy’s Size 000 grow suits and have washed them ready to pack that hospital bag.  They are so tiny.

Sorry for the late posting today.  No sleep again for me last night so caught up today when Poppy had her nap.  Oh the simple pleasures of a ‘Nanna Nap’!  Xxx

Strong Political Women ♥

Today I am loving strong political women in light of last night’s political events in Australia.

I know the above photo did the rounds on Facebook last year but I still love it! It shows Licia Ronzulli, a Member of the European Parliament from Italy with her six-week old daughter Victoria, voting at Strasbourg.

Her baby snuggled very contentedly against her chest, swaddled in a simple sling. According to The Daily Mail,  Ms. Ronzulli occasionally looked down from the proceedings to give her daughter a little kiss on the forehead.

When Poppy was a baby I was a Committee Member for Women in Tourism Tasmania and I remember taking her to meetings in the Baby Bjorn.  I must admit, I did find it quite difficult to concentrate on agenda items and certainly wasn’t  like ‘cool-cat’ Licia here!

In closing – like her or loathe her you can’t help admire Julia Gillard for her tenacity to rise to the top in a male dominated political sphere.  Oh dear – here we go again with Kevin ’07!

Hobart ♥

Today I am loving Hobart!

I grew up in northern Tasmania and have lived in Hobart since 2005.  I have always been aware of the North/South:Launceston/Hobart divide with parochial comments about either place, depending on where you were from.

I find both areas/cities so beautiful.  Launceston nestling into it’s valley bowl, encompassed by the surrounding hills, beautiful architecture, parks and gardens.  Hobart perched on the edge of the southern oceans with Mt Wellington dominating the city skyline.

I have found Hobart has totally ‘spunked up’ over the past 5 years. There are so many amazing new cafes, restaurants, shops, festivals and of course we have to mention the ‘MONA effect’.

My favourite things about Hobart include:

So today, I just wish to share the love for my city!  xx

Birkie ♥

Today I am loving my new Birkenstock Dundee’s.  A little kooky looking – I do love the ‘duck’ shape toe and the taupe suede. At 32 weeks pregnant it is all about comfort as I have been in a lot of pain with my pelvis and hips for the past month and these babies are made for

Cashmere ♥

Today I am loving my new Oyuna Cashmere scarf I recently bought in Melbourne.  It is the perfect blend of soft cashmere ‘in classic taupe which has a subtle yet vibrant detailing with a rich spice red border down each long edge’.

I read the tag after my purchase, and although a little over the top I quite like the following description (as would my friend Tim):

At one with the land, wind and sun, cashmere goats graze under the soaring sky of the sweeping Mongolian steppe. These goats are the precious source of Oyuna’s cashmere. When they moult – just once a year in the spring – the soft underfleece is gathered and spun immediately.  This captures all the fibre’s spirit creating supremely soft, light cashmere that radiates with energy and warmth.

Cashmere cares for you.

Melissa and I have nick-named the scarf the “Mongolian Princess“!
