The State Cinema in North Hobart is one of my favourite places to escape. There is nothing better than a sneaky french film on a wintery afternoon, with a hot chocolate or glass of red wine in hand!
Afternoons are obviously a little trickier now with the little Popster, so evenings are my new time slot. My friend Melissa and I regularly leave our little sleeping babies with our husbands, and off we go to grab a little piece of ‘culture’!
My old friend, Tim and I regularly review the movies we have seen and I think sometimes we like to think we are Margaret & David from At The Movies. Tim lives regionally and when he is in Hobart is a dedicated State customer, seeing three movies in one hit!!
The State has recently undergone major refurbishment with a new bookshop and cafe and I am awaiting the opening of the new roof-top cinema, with bated breath!
I am waiting with bated breath to go to the State with you……. Missing you dear sister.
Me too – I look forward to many movies together when you move down! x
Homage to the State!
I do love going there. A coffee or vino with a little French film or two, followed by a tasty morsel, a bit of book browsing and then another cinematic delight. I was made for it. And it is all ten times better if the weather is dreadful and it’s a weekday.
