Little Ladybird

On Saturday, we had a little ‘Ladybird‘ themed party for Poppy!  Her Grandparents and some of her little friends (from Mother’s Group and Swimming Class) came to join in the celebrations!

I loved preparing for the party – customising her little invites, making a cake and spending hours icing it!  Mind you, the first attempt of my cake was a total dud, as I missed the milk from the recipe.  The second attempt worked wonders!

My Nanna was always a whizz when it came to cake decorating.  She made superb cakes for us when we were growing up, and I still have fond memories.  I hope Poppy will have the same experience over the years (not that she is going to remember her first one!).

Poppy actually seemed quite chuffed that she was the centre of attention – a little puzzled at first, but loved playing with all her friends and new toys.  Here’s to many more little parties!!

Welcome to the wonderful world of cake decorating!! I remember all the late nights feeling sick from all the sticky sweet icing I licked off my fingers trying to be as skillful as nanna but never getting close. Smarties, coloured coconut, m & m’s and ribbons are a God sent for hiding little mistakes! The best thing is the look of excitement and pleasure in your little ones face when all is revealed. I am so pleased Larn you are now experiencing this fabulous part of motherhood. Missing you all…… Must be time for a trip south!!!
    PS I LOVE the ladybird….
