Hello Harrods

Bron, her 7 month-old son Owen, and I went into London today to see all the ‘must see’ attractions before my departure tomorrow.

Bron was an excellent tour guide as she pointed out all the ‘royal’ features of the city, including St. James’ and Buckingham Palaces. We continued onto Knightsbridge and visited the famous department store – Harrods.

We jumped on a London Bus (pram and all) to Piccadilly Circus and walked through Carnaby Street in Soho and back to Waterloo Station. It was another fab day and little Owen was a star!

Eye See

I spent the day in London on my own today, and soaked in all the vibrancy of the Olympic city.  I have now found my groove with the Underground (what a fantastic system) and buzzed between Waterloo, Covent Garden, Oxford Circus and Embankment Stations.

With only a few days left before I fly home to Australia and back to Nick & Poppy, I am ‘ticking’ a few things off my wish list.  One of those included an experience on the London Eye.  It really was wonderful!  x

Pop : Corn

I have just discovered corn on the cob for Poppy!

Wow – this wonder vegetable keeps her entertained for quite some time and gives her little teeth a good work out! X

Beach Babe

It was such a beautiful morning this morning so I took my ‘buddies’ down to the beach!  What a lovely way to start the day!

Sneaky Peek : Art, Prints & Photos

Today I am sharing with you some of my favourite art, prints and photos we have in our room.

This New Yorker poster we bought home from the Guggenheim Museum.  I love it so much!

My good friend Aimee painted this for me many years ago and I have carted it around with me for all of that time!

I bought this fabulous Picasso post card from the Picasso Museum in Barcelona in 2005.

This photo was taken by my friend Tim, when he was in Prague. Such fantastic composition.

Boating Adventures

I was another late starter to the world of boating, having spent most of my time in the mountains!  However, my husband has fast tracked my limited marine experience!

It is our favourite way to relax…leaving Hobart on a Friday afternoon and cruising down ‘The Channel’ (the D’Entrecasteaux Channel to Bruny Island).  We regularly anchor in places known as: Sykes; Alexander’s; The Duck Pond; The Gentleman’s; Missionary Bay; Tin Pot or Mickey’s.

Nick wakes early and takes Maisy ashore in the dinghy and then tries his hand at catching a few early morning ‘flatties’!  I love nothing more than staying in bed and reading a ‘page turner’.  It is one of life’s simple pleasures…being immersed in a captivating novel, hearing the lap of water against the hull and the distant sounds of an outboard.

It is valuable time spent together and also with Nick’s family – often rafting up and sharing a few afternoon G&T’s and a meal together.

Obviously, I don’t have the luxury of laying in and reading my book with Poppy, but it is so wonderful to share our boating days with her!

Poppy’s Baptism

Poppy was baptised last Sunday, under the big oak tree on Mum and Dad’s property ~ ‘Mill Farm’.  It was a delightful day and Poppy was very well behaved during the service.

We have asked our dear friends – Keith and Bron to be Poppy’s Godparents.  Keith and his family were able to join us on Sunday, but Bron is still in the UK and we look forward to seeing her, and her family back in Australia later in the year.

Poppy’s Aunt and Uncle’s – Robyn, George, Will, Tup (and little Maggie) made it down from Melbourne for the weekend too, which was fantastic!

It was wonderful to share the day with our family and friends. x
