Matilda ♥

Last Thursday, Poppy and I went to Melbourne for three days with her cousin Maggie and my sister-in-law, Tup.  It was such fun travelling with two little girls, who were so excited about all the little things you tend to take for granted … such as checking in our bags, holding their boarding passes and the ultimate … taking off!

We had some city time before going to Matilda The Musical at the Princess Theatre on Thursday night.  The girls were beside themselves in their pretty dresses, marvelling at the beauty of the theatre, their Dress Circle seats, the amazing set, but mostly their Choc Tops!

The show was absolutely amazing – I recommend anyone to go and see it before it finishes in November.  I even shed a little tear at the end!  The girls were exhausted as they climbed into their beds at their big cousin’s home in Hawthorn.

I really valued spending time with Poppy just on her own – chatting away with her as we wandered through Chadstone on a mission to find her a new pair of Runners (that weren’t too pink)!

The three little cousins had a movie and a ‘midnight feast’ on Friday night, whilst the big sister-in-laws shared a beautiful home cooked meal and a bottle of red!

We had an amazing time away, but we missed our boys at home and it was lovely to see them on our return on Saturday night.  Xx

Marysville Mini-Break

The Davies' ClanEvery year we have a Davies’ Long Weekend either in Tasmania or Victoria.  In previous years we have been to Phillip Island in Victoria in 2012 and Stewarts Bay on the Tasman Peninsula in 2013.  This year we went to Marysville in Victoria and rented a fabulous holiday house from Stayz.com.

Looking back over the photos from previous years there have been notable changes – pregnancies, new babies and growing toddlers!  There are now 6 beautiful children – 4 girls and 2 boys ranging in ages from 5 years to 4 months.

It is so wonderful seeing Poppy play with her cousins that she only sees a couple of times of year and this time was no exception.  They bounced, bounced, bounced on the in-ground trampoline; coloured in face masks; plaited their hair; rode their scooters; played in the playground;  dressed up as fairies, nurses and superheros;  went fishing;  splashed in the bath;  slept in bunk beds and had the odd little spat!  I just love seeing them play with each other.

We ate beautiful food (thanks Tup), had many conversations, read magazines, had afternoon naps and just enjoyed each others company for three beautiful days.  Very special times.  Xx

Silver Spoon ♥

Silver Spoon

I was quite taken aback when I opened my mail this week and discovered this fabulous book – The Silver Spoon for Children all packaged up with orange wrapping.  It was from the Jetstar Thankyou Department!

After our flight to Sydney in May I posted this photo of Poppy on Instagram with the hashtag #Jetstar.  I received a request from Jetstar to advise them of our address and 6 weeks later this book arrived with a personal note!

I was very impressed and quite astounded by their exceptional customer service … or maybe it was because they think I am an awesome Mum – ha ha!  Either way, it is a wonderful book with beautiful recipes and illustrations.  Here’s to more cooking with Poppy – Thank You Jetstar!

Sensational Sydney

Sydney

Ah Sydney – oh how I love thee!

As I sit here writing this post on a dreary day in Hobart, rugged up in my winter woollies and Ugg boots I am craving that wonderful Sydney weather.

We have had a fabulous family holiday – it was all that I had hoped it to be.  Our friends Jimmy and Tracey and their girls were amazing hosts and spoilt us rotten by opening up their home and showing off their sensational city.

We experienced warm weather, amazing animals, beach bonanza’s, parks, yacht clubs and beautiful food.  We schlepped the kids all over the place … on buses, trains, ferries, and gondolas to Taronga Zoo, Coogee Beach, Rose Bay and Circular Quay.  We ogled at giraffes, played in the sand, went for a swim, ate sushi and ice cream and were wowed by Vivid Sydney.

Perhaps the funniest part of our holiday was seeing Poppy experience the take-off from Hobart.  She was counting (quite loudly) until we took off – one, two, three … twelve, thirteen, ‘eleventeen’ and then at the top of her lungs yelled out:

OFF WE GO!

It was pure, uninhibited excitement.
