Tissue Pom Pom ♥

700_pompom3

Apologies for my absence yesterday – there’s a bit going on at the moment (more on that later)!

Today I am loving these tissue paper pom pom’s.  I have posted about pom pom’s before here but I just love these delicate blooms.  They have inspired me with new ideas for decorating Poppy’s room.

Pom-Poms wonderfully dress up any special occasion or room in your home. Loved by many, pom-poms are a wonderful and airy way to add detail to your space.

What a whimsical way to wake to these floating beauties?

Yum : Homemade Pasta Sauce

Several weeks ago, my friend Tim delivered a bundle of home-grown Roma tomatoes.  I did make a big batch of relish (recipe next week) and I had some left overs.  So, my sister-in-law, Alison suggested the following scrumptious recipe: Pasta Sauce Roma tomatoes Basil Red onion Garlic Olive oil Salt & pepper Method Pop all

Audrey

HollyGolightly1

I have always loved Audrey Hepburn and her elegance and style.  The above image has always been one of my favourites … and it hangs with pride of place in our Den.  I love the ‘old world’ charm of ‘Holly Golightly’ standing outside Tiffany’s in New York, with her coffee and bagel.

So it was to my utter delight that my dear friend Annabelle had a ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ inspired 40th Birthday Party on Saturday night.  I (tried to) channel my inner ‘Audrey’ and donned the diamonds, pearls and fur (and my growing tummy) for a fun night out.  Apologies for not posting any photos of the party – my camera wouldn’t fit in my Tiffany bag!

Unfortunately Poppy was ‘out of sorts’ this weekend, so I haven’t posted any photos of her today.  I think she has more teeth on the way.  xx

Bed ♥

oeuf-clasic-toddler-bed_5108c4107c855

With our second bubba due in early August, I have been experiencing a rage of ‘nesty’ hormones, much to Nick’s concern.  All I think and dream about is the new configuration of our bedrooms (Poppy will move into our room, we will move into the big spare bedroom that has never been renovated and little bubba will have Poppy’s room).  I will have to do some reading to see when the best time is to swap rooms, as we don’t want Poppy thinking she has been ‘evicted’ from her little nest!

The first step toward this change was purchasing this gorgeous Ouef Classic Toddler Bed from my friend Anja:

The Classic Toddler Bed represents a milestone in your child’s development; from baby to toddler. As a scaled-down bed with a low mattress position, your child’s sense of new-found independence is reinforced by their ability to climb in and out on their own.

My ‘nesting’ doesn’t end there.  This gorgeous doona cover would complement her new ensemble beautifully!  Oh how I love manchester.  xx

Sneaky Peek : Peppa!

peppa

I have spoken about my ethical dilemma with screen time before here, but I still find I succumb to the television for those moments of the day when I need to get dinner cooked etc.

Poppy’s favourite show at the moment is Peppa Pig – she goes nuts when the little jingle starts, yelling “Peppa! Peppa!” at the top of her voice.  Truth be known, I also am a little bit obsessed with Peppa too.  That little pink snorter is quite entertaining.

When we offer alternatives for her viewing pleasure such as Shaun the Sheep, we are met with an insistent: ‘Peppa!, Peppa!’  Oh Ok then!

Peppa is a loveable, cheeky little piggy who lives with her little brother George, Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig.

Peppa’s favourite things include playing games, dressing up, days out and jumping in muddy puddles. Her adventures always end happily with loud snorts of laughter.

Yum : Preserved Pears

The fruit is ripe, I’ve dusted off the old Fowlers Kit and dragged it out from under the house and I have picked, peeled, cored, and packed many, many pears for preserving! Fowlers Vacola Preserving Fowlers Vacola had humble origins as a fruit-bottling business started by Joseph Fowler at the rear of a small house in Burke Road, Melbourne.

DIY Divas

All of my friends know that I am a sucker for Scandinavian design furniture. I subscribe to blogs such as The Style Files, Love Nordic Design, From Scandinavia with Love and My Scandinavian Retreat to name a few.  I often dream about jetting off with Poppy and Nick to live another life in a remote Nordic chalet, full of designer furniture, where we ski from the front door, wear woolley jumpers and watch the Northern Lights from our deck (and would look something like this):

Snow Cabin Chalet Chalet 1

Ah, we would probably get bored with all the beauty.

Forego the Nordic chalet and the woolley jumpers, IKEA sometimes gives you that little Scandinavian hit that gets you through!  I have been drooling over the IKEA Mandal Chest of 6 Drawers for some time!  My colleague Alex was in Melbourne last weekend with his Landcruiser and happened to be going to IKEA, and so I put in my order.

Nick was away on a boys’ fishing trip all weekend and with Allan Key in hand, I began to assemble the chest of drawers.  My little off-sider also got into the act but when she started walking around with a hammer and screwdriver in hand, it was time to divert her attention to another ‘puzzle’.

After using all the components, the chest of drawers is now complete and takes pride of place in Poppy’s room.  It looks so beautiful – nice and simple and yet easy to use.

I haven’t shared many photos of Poppy of late due to my computer troubles. So here are some recent ones of our little beach babe at Little Fancy Bay on Bruny Island and riding Freddie Hallett’s scooter at Nutgrove!

Furry Armchair ♥

700_ilse-crawford-artek
Today I am loving UK designer Ilse Crawford’s fur-covered update of a classic: the Alvar Aalto’s Armchair 400, that I recently saw on Remodelista:

In February a few years back, Artek launched their Dress the Chair! campaign as part of its 75th anniversary celebration. The company asked a selection of designers to render classic Artek pieces in their vision; Crawford was the first to have a go at the Armchair 400 (nicknamed “The Tank”) by rendering it in a softer reindeer skin upholstery.

I would love to nestle into this baby by the fire!  xx
