Poppy ♥

I have finally taken some photos of Poppy this morning, and so today is Poppy ♥!  She loves her breakfast, which consists of weetbix, yoghurt, stewed rhubarb and bananas.

We are having a nice day hanging out together and have just returned from the park (where there were thousands of school children on their Christmas excursions).  Poppy was slightly overwhelmed and she is now tucked up in bed, fast asleep.  x

Bear ♥

Today I am loving this little ‘masked bear’ pillow from Smallable.

We love this brown bear’s face shaped pillow, with a red mask that you can take off. This adorable sweet and fun pillow will certainly be a hit in any child’s room as a toy but also as an object of decoration.

I am super excited, because I am off to Melbourne this morning for the weekend. Little Pops is going to have some quality time with her daddy.

Ah the anticipation of some quality time to wander around the city, to eat at my favourite jaunts, to catch up with some special women and to go to a Hen’s Day in the country.  Whoooo Hoooooo!

Black + White + Yellow ♥

Yellow is probably my least favourite colour, however when it is teamed with black and white it takes on a whole new persona.

I recently found a yellow/gold sheepskin in the cupboard that my friend Anja, handed down to us when Poppy was a baby.  I slung it over her Eames Rocker (a reproduction from Click On Furniture) and bammm … what a winner!  It looks lovely against the charcoal carpet and white walls, and it is oh so comfy.

After a bit of surfing on-line, it seems to be quite the colour combination.  There is even a Pinterest site solely devoted to Black-White-Yellow!

Madame Constance ♥

Today I am loving Madame Constance from Moulin Roty:

Les Parisiennes are a small family of pretty rag dolls, each one presented in a beautifully decorated gift box. Madame Constance, the larger and ‘more grown up’ of the dolls measures 50cm in height, has a beautifully embroidered face, and is wearing a pretty outfit edged in Liberty fabric. She comes in her own gorgeous gift box.

I first met Madame Constance when I was in her homeland in August and unfortunately I didn’t buy her then but have thought of her ever since.  She is currently on lay-by for Poppy for Christmas and I can’t wait for her to come and live with us!

Music ♥

I love music and listen to a range of genres (well apart from Country and Def Metal).  I have an eclectic mix of CD’s which Poppy loves taking off the shelf to stand on – EEK!  I now download music through iTunes.

I have been fortunate to experience some fantastic festivals and live music over the years.  I love that feeling of being at a music festival with your ‘crew’ on a warm summer’s evening, amongst the throng of revellers and that deep base resonating through to your very core.

The Falls Festival in Tasmania is always a winner and we have had some fantastic times there in the past:

I also went to WOMAD in Adelaide with Penny in 2008 – such a mix of amazing music from around the world for three days!

Perhaps it is a sign of getting older, but in recent years my music taste has shifted towards the classical end of the spectrum.  I listen to ABC Classic FM at home during the day as I love the calming effect of the background music.

I have recently come across some very moving pieces.  Here is one to sit down to with a cup of tea, close your eyes and enjoy Misha Maisky play Bach Cello Suite No. 1 in G.  What a fabulous piece!

Finally, my music repertoire continues to evolve.  This is what we are listening to in the car at the moment:

Twigseeds ♥

Today I am loving Twigseeds:

Twigseeds is the nest and nom de plume of the wonderfully whimsical Australian Illustrator and artist, Kate Knapp.

First hatched in Brisbane in the mid 90s, Twigseeds is famous for its colourful and curious characters, the art prints, cards, stationery and books they inhabit, and the unique perspective
they share.

Parades of curious creatures spring from Kate’s desk in the Twigseeds studio. Some are shy and timid, needing a little encouragement and a biscuit or three. While other, more flamboyant types, are thrilled to their twinkling toes with the attention.

With wide eyes and smiling beaks, twitching whiskers and wagging tails, they take their sunny stories to the world.

I recently purchased the affirmation cards from Twigseeds that sit on top of my dressing table.  I like changing the cards daily to be greeted with beautiful words and whimsical characters:

I have also started following the artist’s blog – Ruby Red Shoes:

Ruby Red Shoes is a white hare who lives in a prettily painted caravan with her grandmother.

Ruby is gentle and kind, cheery and enchanting. She loves animals and people, trees and nature, flowers and sunshine.

Ruby is particularly partial to strawberry jam and peppermint tea. She is also rather fond of red shoes.

It looks as though Ruby has recently been to Paris too.  xx

Mug ♥

Today I am loving my new mug ‘I Blog Therefore I Am’.  This was given to me by my friend and fellow blogger Melissa, for my birthday.

I have met some really great women through having Poppy and have made very good friends as a result.  You know those people who come into your life at particular times, well Melissa has certainly become a firm friend.

After meeting in Mother’s Group, her son was born 6 days after Poppy and I have found her very supportive as we journey down this new path, called ‘Motherhood’!

We have a lot in common and I cherish our new found friendship – a friendship that feels as though we have known each other for years. xx

Rob Ryan ♥

Today I am loving my new Rob Ryan ‘Please Smell Us’ Vase.  My sister-in-law, Alison and her family gave the vase to me for my birthday.  It looks so delightful on the kitchen bench!  All I need now are some flowers.

Calling all daydreamers!

Lovers of all things wild and whimsical will adore Rob Ryan.

Born in Cyprus, Rob Ryan lives and works in London. His intricate, amazing designs are painstakingly hand cut from paper. Combining poetry with hearts, birds, flowers and more, Rob Ryan refers to his art as “unashamedly sentimental”. And we couldn’t agree more!

Flowers look all the more beautiful when they’re presented in Rob Ryan’s unique Please Smell Us Vase. It’s decorated with blue flowers and a very cute design on the front shows two children smelling flowers in a vase. There’s just something about this vase that begs you to get up close and take a sniff!

So romantic and lovely, you’ll adore the simple, dreamy elegance of Rob Ryan.

Hoot Hoot ♥

As you may have noticed, I am hoping to have a little more structure to my blog.  I find it a little bit challenging when I work three days a week to always come up with interesting and notable posts to entertain you!  So, I have done a little bit of research and all the
