Now that James is more settled at night and feeding less frequently I am loving a sneaky tipple – a beautiful Gin & Tonic, with Hendrick’s Gin of course and lots of lime and ice!
Perfect for these balmy evenings. XX
I have been craving an extended trip into the mountains … but it will have to wait until my little peeps are a little older. So instead, I loaded everyone up in the car this morning and we went on an adventure to Mt. Wellington.
I pointed out the native plants to Poppy along the way, we picked up sticks, sang ‘walking in the bush‘ song from Playschool, had a few wees and had rocks in our shoes but we finally made it to Sphinx Rock where we enjoyed the view and the fabulous sunshine.
Not quite an epic five-day bushwalk but certainly satisfied a smidgen of my mountain cravings! Xx

Today I am loving Poppy’s new silver Saltwater Sandals:

She had grown out of her red ones from last summer, and was wearing shoes that were too small for her. So off we went to Charlie’s Bucket in Hobart and decided that the summer of 2014 was going to be the one of the silver sandal!
Mummy, I love my new silver sandals!

I love to entertain and on Tuesday night my girlfriends joined me for some bubbles and sweetie treats. It felt very festive with the house full of beautiful women, glowing candles, a twinkling Christmas tree and lively chatter. Xx

I should make a disclaimer somewhere that this is a sponsored post … my first one! I was contacted via my blog by a PR company in Sydney inviting me to try these WaterWipes and no sooner a little package had turned up in our letterbox.
I was a little skeptical at first as I have always been a loyal Huggies® Baby Wipes kind of girl, but I was pleasantly surprised with the WaterWipes, especially after reading about how many chemicals are lurking in other wipes.
I used the whole packet on James’ little derriere. The proof was in the pudding when I resumed with the other wipes and he developed a nappy rash almost straight away!?
After reviewing the price comparisons, ironically you pay less for more chemicals! A box of 384 Huggies® Baby Wipes cost $20.32 at Woolworths, whereas a box of 240 WaterWipes cost $21.99 from the Mighty Ape. So it comes down to an ethical decision – a decision that is easily made when you really read the small print. Look out Mighty Ape, here I come!
Water and Grapefruit seed extract confirmed best for baby bottoms
Here are also some interesting (and perhaps frightening) facts for you:
All other baby wipes contain harsh chemical ingredients – even the “sensitive” or “pure” ones. Check the back of the pack next time to see for yourself.
… We know that Parents need to change their baby’s nappy up to 10 times a day. Imagine wiping [these] ingredients on your baby’s skin 70 times per week and then locking them in with a nappy. There is no product that you would use that many times, even as an adult.
Parabens
Chemically manufactured preservatives. Parabens have been found in breast cancer tumours. Our wipes are made in a highly controlled sterile environment and we use grapefruit seed extract as a natural biocide to keep the pack fresh (in case your fingers bring some bacteria to the during the change of baby).
Lanolin
This is grease from animal fur, aka ‘wool fat’. It is used in shoe polish and rust-proof coatings. Needless to say, our wipes don’t have lanolin.
Alcohol
Babies’ skin is ultra thin, why would you want to put alcohol on their skin? Alcohol causes harsh skin sensitisation.
Perfume / Fragrance
It usually implies a mix of ingredients, possibly including phtalates. Babies need cleaning, not perfuming, We don’t use perfume in our wipe as it can inflame baby’s skin.
Phtalates
They are chemicals used to make plastics more flexible and harder to break. Bisphenol A is the name to watch out for as well as DBP, DEP, DEHP, BzBP, DMP… No thanks!
Benzoates
A widely used range of chemically made preservatives (look for E211 & E212. The UK Food Commission qualified it as ” irritant to the skin, eyes and mucous membranes” – They are also linked to cancers and asthma. Not for our wipes either!
Triclosan
A cancer causing antimicrobial agent (when combined with chlorine). It causes hormone disruption… No, that’s not one for baby’ skin! Or mine for that effect!

I see you!
I have come to keep Poppy and my old mate Moosey company, after I was on sale at Norsu Interiors. I like living here.

Today I am loving these ‘red cricket stripe’ Tabitha Simmons Dessert Wedge:
A fun take on a lace-up boot, these striped wedge beauties designed by Tabitha Simmons for TOMS+ are chic, practical and oh so comfy. This style features waxed cream laces, custom grosgrain cricket stripe upper and cute contrasting polka-dot inner, cream piping and TOMS+ rubber outsole for added durability. The best part? Aside from your new fancy feet of course, for every pair purchased TOMS gives a child in need new shoes. It’s One for One, so embrace the giving and know that your purchase is doing far more good than any other shoe in your closet!

Poppy is still quite unwell with her virus and as a result we have been at home for the past three days. Needless to say I have done a wee bit of surfing on the web to stay in touch with the ‘outside’ world.
During my cyber travels I came across this patchwork quilt from Treehouse Textiles:

I have never been a huge fan of the traditional patchwork quilt as I find them a little busy for me, but I really love the combination of these contemporary spots and stripes with the traditional floral. I now feel quite inspired to make a quilt for Poppy.
Since then I have started researching all the fab fabrics out there and I always come back to the traditional Liberty floral. I love that Poppy’s Madame Constance is sporting a Liberty Tana Lawn:

Time to get that sewing machine out and get crafty – the fabrics are all so gorgeous and these are some of my favourites:

Today I am loving our new By Nord doona cover that I have been coveting for many years, but kept baulking at the cost of shipping from Europe. You can imagine my delight when I recently found Norsu Interiors began importing ‘By Nord’ products into Australia!
Finally that big old moose has found his way into our room, and what a dude he is!

Today I am loving all the future possibilities of dressing our little man James. Here is a very cool winter outfit:
