A Friday Frolic

Bernachhi

Poppy, James and I popped down to Constitution Dock this morning for a hot chocolate and a wander around the docks.  We  also stopped by to say hi to Louis Bernacchi and his doggies!

I know, I know – I even let Poppy out of the house with her Uggies on!  I couldn’t be bothered with the ‘put your shoes on’ rant.  We had a lovely walk and I am getting quite excited about the opening night of Dark MOFO tonight!

A Queen’s Birthday

Pantone

I hope you enjoyed the Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend?  I thought it apt to share this fabulous Pantone Diamond Jubilee Colour Guide – love it!

In celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s 60 colourful years on the British throne, Pantone, the global authority on colour and provider of professional colour standards for the design industries, and leading advertising agency Leo Burnett, have teamed up to launch a limited edition colour guide to mark the Queen’s fashion-forward colour statements.

For over 60 years, Her Majesty has opted for a full spectrum of perfectly colour coordinated ensembles, from the Primrose Yellow she wore at Will and Kate’s wedding in April 2011 to the tasteful Lilac Snow outfit she wore last year during a visit to Northumberland.

To mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, this bespoke, limited-edition, numbered colour guide is designed to capture and commemorate some of the Queen’s most memorable colour choices since her coronation – featuring PANTONE® Colour references and citing the date and location that determined her outfit colour choice.

Pantone QueenCloser to home we had a quiet long weekend – with a quick spin on the boat, a catch up with friends and a breakfast out at Zum Cafe.

Nick and Poppy went away on the boat to Bruny Island together whilst James (little Pumpkin) and I stayed at home, made a hearty soup and kept warm.

Sensational Sydney

Sydney

Ah Sydney – oh how I love thee!

As I sit here writing this post on a dreary day in Hobart, rugged up in my winter woollies and Ugg boots I am craving that wonderful Sydney weather.

We have had a fabulous family holiday – it was all that I had hoped it to be.  Our friends Jimmy and Tracey and their girls were amazing hosts and spoilt us rotten by opening up their home and showing off their sensational city.

We experienced warm weather, amazing animals, beach bonanza’s, parks, yacht clubs and beautiful food.  We schlepped the kids all over the place … on buses, trains, ferries, and gondolas to Taronga Zoo, Coogee Beach, Rose Bay and Circular Quay.  We ogled at giraffes, played in the sand, went for a swim, ate sushi and ice cream and were wowed by Vivid Sydney.

Perhaps the funniest part of our holiday was seeing Poppy experience the take-off from Hobart.  She was counting (quite loudly) until we took off – one, two, three … twelve, thirteen, ‘eleventeen’ and then at the top of her lungs yelled out:

OFF WE GO!

It was pure, uninhibited excitement.

James’ Baptism

James' Baptism

We celebrated James’ Baptism (or Poppy’s interpretation “James’ getting his head wet“!) on Sunday with our family at Westbury.

James is exactly the same age Poppy was for her Baptism – but the days could not have been more different.  Poppy was baptised under the oak tree on our farm on a hot February day and James was baptised at Westbury Church on a wet and dreary Autumn morning.

The man of the moment did not shed a single tear throughout the whole service – the only mishaps were bumping his head on the pew and sitting on Sophie La Girafe who squeaked during the sermon!

Humdrum

IMG_9995

hum·drum  (hŭm′drŭm′)

adj.  Lacking variety or excitement; boring or dull.
n.  Monotonous talk or routine.

I find it tempting to always ‘glamourise’ your life ‘online’.  Be it on your blog, Instagram, Facebook or Twitter – we tend to showcase our best sides by uploading that perfect pic or writing only about the good times.  But what about the humdrum of day-to-day?  The boring bits in-between that nobody really thinks are valid to share.

Today I am going to share with you some of my humdrum – driving the kids to the park, blurry swing photos, the mess at home and spending a ‘crafternoon’ with Poppy making a Fairy Wand that ends up looking nothing like it should have.  Nothing glamorous – but it is the beauty of my world.

Mum ♥

I love my mum

“I love my Mum because … she plays with my dog, she does jobs, I like her”.  Poppy presented me with this masterpiece yesterday morning for Mother’s Day.

I hope you all had a nice day?  I managed a sleep in and a very relaxing day spent with my little munchkins, Nick and his folks.  We made pizza’s and ended up having a long lunch.  Lovely.  X

Play : Pirate : Patient

Poppy

Our days have been busy – so busy in fact that I didn’t manage to publish a post yesterday!  We have had swimming lessons and trying to spend as much time out of the house when the sun is shining.

At Nutgrove Park on Thursday Poppy loved climbing on all the equipment whilst James was happy to sit and run the sand through his hands and to eat the Autumn leaves!

To finish off the day, Poppy had her first visit to the dentist.  All OK in the teeth department and she was a very good patient.
