I’m back! I had a bit of a break from ‘bloggy’ over the Easter period. As you can see, I have also transferred my site from Tumblr to WordPress. I was feeling a little more creative and my Tumblr site was a little limiting. We shall see how it goes – you may notice a
Boating Adventures

I was another late starter to the world of boating, having spent most of my time in the mountains! However, my husband has fast tracked my limited marine experience!
It is our favourite way to relax…leaving Hobart on a Friday afternoon and cruising down ‘The Channel’ (the D’Entrecasteaux Channel to Bruny Island). We regularly anchor in places known as: Sykes; Alexander’s; The Duck Pond; The Gentleman’s; Missionary Bay; Tin Pot or Mickey’s.
Nick wakes early and takes Maisy ashore in the dinghy and then tries his hand at catching a few early morning ‘flatties’! I love nothing more than staying in bed and reading a ‘page turner’. It is one of life’s simple pleasures…being immersed in a captivating novel, hearing the lap of water against the hull and the distant sounds of an outboard.
It is valuable time spent together and also with Nick’s family – often rafting up and sharing a few afternoon G&T’s and a meal together.
Obviously, I don’t have the luxury of laying in and reading my book with Poppy, but it is so wonderful to share our boating days with her!

A Long Weekend
Maisy, James and Maurice Rioli Meg, Emily and Poppy Poppy’s new cot! We enjoyed the long weekend away on the boat. We caught up with James, Leesa and their girls – Meg and Emily. The weather was lovely and the weekend very relaxing!
Saturday Night Fever
Last night we had a babysitter for Poppy, and Nick and I shared a fantastic evening with James and Leesa. We took Tagus over to Bellerive where we went to a scrumptious Thai restaurant – Darjoh’s. It was wonderful to be out together with friends, and even enjoy a few cheeky sparkling wines!
After Work Swim
Don’t you just love those days where your husband comes home from work and says: “Let’s go swimming!”. My sister Cath has been staying, so we bundled up baby, dog, towels, cranked up Tagus and cruised to Bellerive Beach for a swim. It was sublime! I love these Hobart summer days. PS: On another note,
Boat + Baby
We had our first weekend away on the boat with Poppy this weekend! We spent two glorious days on Bruny Island enjoying beautiful weather, fresh flathead, games of backgammon and time with Popster. She didn’t exactly sleep like an angel, but she did well in a different environment. She especially loved her baby PFD (Personal
MONA
On Sunday we went to MONA (Museum of Old and New Art) in our little boat. We had lunch, played with Poppy on the grass and enjoyed the local wine. Such a simple thing to do on a dull day, but oh so pleasurable!
Opening Day
Yesterday was Opening Day of the Yachting Season and we joined in the celebrations on the water with my sister, Cath. The Derwent River provided a wonderful stage for all the yachts and motor cruisers in the sail past Tasmanian Governor, Peter Underwood. We enjoyed a lovely lunch at Bellerive afterwards.
Dad’s Day
Nick is pretty happy to be celebrating his first Father’s Day! We had breakfast at T42 with Nick’s parents. Yesterday we went away on the boat for the day to Bruny Island. Poppy sleeps so well with the gentle movement of the water. We even took her Jolly Jumper along and as you can see in this
Lazy Sunday
I love Sundays. They have a different feel about them compared to other days of the week. Nick is mowing the lawns as I write – I love the smell of freshly cut grass.
Yesterday we went out on our boat – Tagus, with Sam for lunch.

We had our usual hot chicken from Lipscombe Larder, with fresh rye sourdough, soy mayo and avocado. Such simple pleasures!
