James is now 8 months old and is almost crawling, he’s eating solids, sleeping well and becoming more and more animated by the day. I’m not sure whether it is the changing of seasons or the fact that it feels as though I have been in ‘ground-hog’ day for a very long time, but I am feeling a little ‘blah’ of late.
I will be returning to work in July and I have been thinking about the role a mother plays and how our ‘job’ would fit into a typical position description. I liken motherhood to a high-powered job where there is no knock off time! This is what I came up with:
- Human resources manager (general care and well-being of your children)
- Environmental waste coordinator (changing of nappies, potty training)
- Stock control (supermarket shopping)
- Accountant (paying bills)
- Counsellor (cuddles and encouragement)
- Teacher (reading and writing)
- Activities officer (crafts, play-dates, parks)
- Chef (cooking all those meals)
- Laundry extraordinaire (to think I used to do one load of washing a week)
- Cleaner (currently high demand for one at the moment – see photos below)
Exhausted, I flop onto the couch each night craving for some precious quiet time and to watch some trashy tellie, when my husband says:
Honey, would you mind rubbing my feet!
Like I said – no knock off time! X
You need some more ‘Danish Den’ time!
Ah yes – bring on The Killing Series II.
