Walk ♥

Above all, do not lose your desire to walk:  every day I walk myself into a state of well-being and walk away from every illness;  I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it … but by sitting still, and the more one sits still, the closer one comes to feeling ill … Thus if one just keeps on walking, everything will be all right.

SonglinesI read Bruce Chatwin’s classic book The Songlines when I was travelling through Asia for the first time in my early twenties.  I distinctly remember it striking a chord with me as I was discovering new cultures and the world of free and independent travel for the first time.

The above quote found in the book signifies so many things for me as I LOVE to walk and relate to Søren’s words.  I hate to think how many miles I have walked in my 43 years but I hope there will be many more to come.

    I have never read this book although it is definitely on my ‘to read’ list. I really think that walking is one of the best, most natural and therapeutic activities that we can do.
